Course Description:
This class is a class for all art abilities. Students may take this class with no previous art experience or with many years of art experience.

This class will teach students the basics of drawing, including; line, shape, color, value/shading, space, texture, perspective and more. We will spend time covering these and specific techniques in pencil. The students will practice what they have learned and complete a project in pencil. We will use both graphite and colored pencil during this time. Once proficient in their pencil work we will begin pottery. During our pottery time the students will continue to use pencils. They will be designing their pottery in 2 dimensions, from multiple perspectives, before creating the actual piece. This will allow students to continue to grow in their drawing techniques throughout the year as well as learn how to create a concept, visualize, and then create the actual form. Students will learn all hand building techniques in pottery, slab, coil, and pinch pot and will create pieces using all 3 techniques.

When taken in 8-12 grade, this course can count as 1 elective credit on a high school transcript.
