Recommended Age: 7th - 8th grade, mastery of course required to move to Algebra 1

Curriculum: Saxon Algebra 1/2

Materials Needed: Saxon 1/2 Student Text, Homeschool Packet (test and problem set solutions), and test book

Course Description: Building upon the principles taught in Saxon 8/7, Saxon Algebra 1/2 reviews arithmetic calculation, measurements, geometry and other skills, and introduces pre-algebra, ratios, probability and statistics. Students will specifically learn about adding/subtracting/multiplying fractions, equivalent fractions, the metric system, repeating decimals, scientific notation, Pi, graphing inequalities, multiplying algebraic terms, the Pythagorean Theorem, the slope-intercept form of linear equations, and more . A student who masters this course will be prepared to advance to Algebra 1.
