Course Description: In this fun year-long elective course for 6th-8th grade, we will dive into the writing process: Prewriting, Draft, Revise, Edit, Final/Publish. Students will compose essays such as a Narrative, Expository, Persuasive, Descriptive Personal Letters, Compare/Contrast, writing a summary, writing a movie review, business letter, poetry, and more. One of the favorites among students is the Food Critic/Restaurant Review unit, where students will be asked to visit a restaurant and write an honest critique/review. Additionally, we will write an Argumentative Essay, learning how to research a topic to persuade the reader to agree with their view. We will take time to learn how to properly cite sources, in-text as well as a Works Cited page. Upon entering this class, students should know how to write a quality paragraph.
