Course Description: This applied arts class will allow students to take up a skill that will be useful for years to come! Students will learn the history and origin of crochet, along with the craft itself. Students will learn new elements, skills, and stitches each week and work on individual projects in class and at home. Final works will be presented in class. Also, the students will establish a class-wide service project, working in groups to create final pieces that will be donated to nursing homes or homebound individuals. Learning the history and skill of this applied art will create an appreciation of the beauty of functional art and help students discover the joy found in coming together to serve others. Students may join this class as beginner, intermediate, or advanced crochet students. All levels will be accommodated! If you are unsure of your ability level, please contact me or wait until the first day of class to be assessed so that you can purchase the correct level book.
